We are trained and skilled at several manual techniques to assist in improving lymphatic drainage to decrease pain/swelling, scar adhesions and improve joint range of motion and your overall quality of life.
Manual lymphatic drainage massage is used to stimulate lymphatic functioning in the body. This technique can treat symptoms such as Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and Lymphedema. This method is also used after post-surgical procedures to minimize swelling and promote healing. MLD can also be used to increase energy levels and speed recovery from viral infections.
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.
SMRT (Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique) is a positional release modality that interrupts pain signals in the body, painlessly resolves trigger points, has an incredibly calming effect on the nervous system. By working with all tissues in any given area, SMRT easily and quickly allows the tissues to balance and the joints to realign effortlessly, re-establishing correct posture.
Scar massage is a technique that includes rubbing and deep pressure and is used to prevent the scar from becoming hard and raised, and to prevent it from sticking to the underlying tissues including muscles and bones, which can limit movement. Scar massage is also a way to desensitize the area if you notice your scar is tender or painful when touched. This can be started when the wound is fully healed, when there are no surgical staples, steri-strips, or scabs.
Soft tissue mobilization is a manual therapy treatment where the therapist applies a variety of pressures and stretches to the muscles and fascia.
This can temporarily improve blood flow, reduce swelling, reduce pain, and improve mobility and muscle function
A joint mobilization is a manual therapy technique, which depending on how its implemented and the goals of the therapist, can help temporarily reduce pain, improve joint function, and increase range of motion around that joint.
The neuromuscular inhibition technique (NIT) is a manual deactivation trigger points technique and includes the application of ischemic pressure and stretch.
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on technique that uses a light touch to examine membranes and movement of the fluids in and around the central nervous system. Relieving tension in the central nervous system promotes a feeling of well-being by eliminating pain and boosting health and immunity.
